Upon registration, a VandalMail email account will be given. For communications pertaining to ISI courses, all University of Idaho students must either activate and use their VandalMail email account, or set up email forwarding from VandalMail to another email.
The subjects we’ll discuss in this post are listed below.
How to log into vandalmail
You can access the VandalMail outlook login as a current student by following the instructions below.
- Open webpages.uidaho.edu.
- Enter your username (NetID).
- Enter your password to log in.
- Now you have access to your VandalMail emails.
Using VandalWeb
Teachers can get information about their classes and students’ advising through VandalWeb. Any internet-connected computer can access VandalWeb.
How to login
- Go to VandalWeb using your web browser.
- Enter your NetID.
- Enter your Password. There are two possible credential combinations for this: 1) A capital V-style Vandal number and a six-character PIN; or 2) An Active Directory user name and password Use just one of these credentials alone; you cannot use both for login.
How to set up your vandal student account
Your NetID is a user name and password that is normally made up of your last name’s first four letters and your V-last Number’s four numbers (example: vand1234).
Your access to university computer and electronic services, such as Student Vandalmail, VandalWeb, Wireless Access, BbLearn, student software, Campus Computer Labs, kiosks, and many other resources, depends on your NetID user name and password (which you will configure in the steps below). The steps for creating a brand-new student account are provided here.
Step 1: First things first
To help new students set up their University of Idaho NetID accounts for the first time, ITS has established a step-by-step webpage. Navigate to https://vandalsetup.uidaho.edu to start the procedure.
You must create a password to secure your data as part of the account registration process. You will want either your Vandal Number or the email address you gave on your application to start the account setting procedure.
Your Vandal Number is an eight-digit number starting with a V and takes the form Vxxxxxxxx. It can be found on your official University of Idaho acceptance letter (e.g. V12345678).
You can move on to step 2 if you have one of these two pieces of knowledge. You can obtain your Vandal Number by calling the Registrar’s Office at 208-885-6731 if you are unsure of it and have lost your admission letter. We are unable to provide your NetID, student email address, mailing address, phone numbers, etc. over the phone in order to safeguard your privacy.
Step 2: password reset process
To access help.uidaho.edu from the first page of the Vandal Setup procedure, click the link after “Start the password reset process.” You will then be directed to the password reset page.
Step 3: Re-captcha
To continue, click the continue button after entering the required re-captcha information (or checking the “I’m not a robot” box).
Step 4: Find your account
You will be required to enter your account name, ID number (also known as your Vandal Number), or email address on the following screen in order for the system to locate your account.
To discover your account, enter your Vandal Number or the email address you used when submitting an application, then click the lookup button. Call the Student Technology Center at 208-885-4357 for assistance if you encounter the error message “Account has not been set up for password reset.”
Step 5: Verify your account
Your University of Idaho application will be used to generate a list of confirmed contacts. Choosing an email or phone number, then pressing the transmit code button.
This will send a temporary code to the email or phone number you choose (via text or voice). Enter the six-digit code into the “Enter Verification Code” text box that has opened after getting this code from your email, another window, or your phone.
Step 6: Setup your security profile
You will be sent to the account administration page after entering the code. You are required to create your security profile here (more information on your security profile). You’ll be able to reset your password using this in the future.
Step 7: Set a password
By clicking “Change Password” under “Account Utilities” after deciding whether or not to set up your security profile, you can create a password for the account. If your password satisfies the requirements, it will say so in the red writing that appears beneath the password boxes.
Remember that your primary log-in to UI computing services like VandalMail is this username/password combination, known as your NetID.
Step 8: Vandal card (optional)
You are free to obtain a Vandal Card if you so choose.
Step 9: Duo multi-factor (optional)
This step is not required. You must set up Duo multi-factor before the start of the semester. But before you have to put it up, you have a 30-day grace period.
How to change your account password (NetID)
You must uninstall and reinstall the AirVandalGold network on all mobile devices, tablets, and laptops that you use to connect wirelessly to the university network after changing your password.
To “forget” or “delete saved network” for AirVandalGold on your device, navigate to the wifi settings page. You should also update any smartphone applications that keep your password (Outlook or email client, for example). Students can seek assistance at the STC, while teachers and staff can do so by contacting their local support or TSP.
Your NetID Password Can Be Reset
Step 1
Use your NetID login and password to access the account administration page at https://help.uidaho.edu. The welcome screen is the first one you’ll see.
You should still be able to access the account administration site even if your password has expired, but not other services like Vandal Mail. You will be presented with a pop-up prompting you to create your security profile if you haven’t already.
You can choose not to use the security profile, but in that case you will always need assistance from a third party to reset your password. You must physically go to the Student Technology Center if you are a student.
Step 2
Click “Change Password” in the left-hand menu under “Passwords” once you’ve logged into the account management page.
Make sure the account you wish to set a password for is selected.
Step 3
If you want to use only a DUO Hardware Token or the DUO Mobile app on your phone for verification, select “Enable Secure MFA and have a longer password expiration.” With this option, you won’t ever need to change your password again. If you must use voice calls or SMS text messages for verification, pick “Disable Secure MFA and have a shorter password expiration” as the alternative. If you select this, your password will expire in 400 days.
For your account, enter a new password that differs from any past ones by at least one character. The system will let you know which standards you are or are not meeting when you type your password.
Before assessing whether your password satisfies the requirements, be sure to input it completely. Your name, username, or email address may not appear three times in a row in the password, which must be at least 12 characters.
Once you’ve satisfied all the password requirements, you may click “Set New Password” to have the system set your NetID password.
Step 4
In order to know the update was effective, make sure you are presented with a “Success” message. Contact the Student Technology Center or your Technology Solutions Partner if you are experiencing any problems.
