UVA Academic Calendar 2022-2023: Important Dates

On the UVA academic calendar for 2022-2023, these are the dates for enrollment, UVA holidays, important dates for UVA law, and deadlines. At the University of Virginia, classes are broken up into semesters. They have 3 parts: Autumn, Spring, and Summer. A semester at UVA lasts between 14 and 16 weeks.

There are different academic schedules for the Schools of Law, Medicine, and Graduate Business. There are also some programmes for working executives.

UVA academic calendar fall 2022

On the UVA academic calendar for 2022-2023, you can find important dates, deadlines, and enrollment dates for the fall 2022 semester.

1. Friday, July 1, 2022, is the last day to apply to go back to school for the fall semester of 2022. (Use eForm in SIS; late forms will not be accepted).
2. Friday, July 1, 2022, is the first day that new graduates can sign up.
3. On August 3, 2022, new first-year college students will be able to sign up.
4. Students at UVA must be enrolled in at least one class for the Fall 2022 semester by 5 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2022, or their records will be cancelled and deactivated in the Student Information System. If your Fall 2022 term was cancelled because you didn’t sign up by Friday, August 26 at 5:00 pm, you need to talk to the registrar at your school of enrollment to get it back.
5. Students at UVA can use UVA SIS to apply to graduate in December 2022 from Wednesday, August 3, to Saturday, October 1, 2022.
6. On Friday, August 12, 2022, people who live in Lawn will move in.
7. Tuesday, August 16, 2022, is the day of Orientation Session K for students.
8. Fall Arrival and Welcome for UVA is from August 18 to August 22 of 2022.
9. Depending on where you live, the orientation for first-year students is on Thursday, August 18 or Friday, August 19.
10. On the UVA academic calendar for 2022-2023, the day that new transfer students can move in is Saturday, August 20, 2022.
11. Returning second-year students can move in on Saturday, August 20, 2022.
12. Students who are returning for their third or fourth year (except for Lawn) can move in on Sunday, August 21, 2022, or later.

14. On Tuesday, August 23, 2022, fall classes at UVA will begin. The start of school for the fall of 2022.
15. From Tuesday, August 23, 2022, to Friday, September 2, 2022, new students can get help with their studies.
16. On the UVA school calendar, Labor Day is on September 5, 2022.
17. UVA Add date is September 6 2022. It is the Last Day to
    • Add a Class
    • Select the AU (Audit) Option
    • Change to or from “Credit/No Credit” Option
    • Request Part-Time Status for Semester
    • Request Reduced Course Load for Semester
18. Drop without W (course removed from transcript) date is September 7, 2022 (The last day to drop a class), October 11 2022 for Engineering students, and September 6 for UVA Law students.
19. The last day of school before Reading Day is Friday, September 30, 2022.
20. The date to drop with W is October 18, 2022, and the date for Law students is December 7, 2022.
21. From October 1, 2022, to October 4, 2022, UVA will have its Fall Reading Days.
22. According to the UVA academic calendar, classes will start again on Wednesday, October 5, 2022.
23. The last day to drop out of a course is Tuesday, October 18, 2022. (Use SIS).
24. The dates for UVA Family Weekend are October 28–30, 2022. On October 28, 2022, there will be a Family Convocation.
25. Students can apply in SIS to graduate in May 2023 between November 1 and December 5, 2022.
26. On November 8, 2022, it will be time to vote. On this day, there are no classes.
27. Friday, November 18, 2022, is the last day to drop out of college and come back for the spring semester of 2023. (use SIS eForm).
28. The last day of school before Thanksgiving break is Tuesday, November 22, 2022.
29. From Wednesday, November 23, 2022, to Sunday, November 27, 2022, UVA will be on Thanksgiving break.
30. According to the UVA academic calendar for 2022-2023, classes will start back up on Monday, November 28, 2022, after the Thanksgiving break.
31. The last day to ask for a change to the exam schedule is Wednesday, November 30.
32. Tuesday, December 6, 2022, is the last day of UVA fall 2022 classes.
33. The last day for fourth-semester students to choose a major is Tuesday, December 6, 2022.
34. Wednesday, December 7, 2022, Sunday, December 11, 2022, and Wednesday, December 14, 2022, are all reading days.
35. From Thursday, December 8, 2022, to Friday, December 16, 2022, there will be final exams.
36. The last day to drop out of the Semester is Friday, December 16, 2022 at 5:00 PM.
37. Requires Advance Notice (students should contact their Association Dean in the College).
38. Authorized Incompletes for the Fall Semester have to be done by Wednesday, January 18, 2023.

On the UVA academic calendar for 2022-2023, you can find important dates, deadlines, and enrollment dates for the Spring 2023 semester.

1. In September 2022, you can use SIS to apply for readmission for J-Term and Spring.
2. In October 2022, you can search for classes for the spring of 2023.
3. Course selection for Spring 2023 will be done by mid-October 2022.
4. Early November 2022 is when first-year students can start signing up for Spring 2023. (check UVA SIS for specific appointments).
5. The last day to apply for readmission for the Spring 2023 term is December 1, 2022. (Use eForm in SIS; late forms will not be accepted).
6. Classes for the January term start on January 2, 2023 and end on January 13, 2023.
7. On the UVA academic calendar for 2022-2023, Martin Luther King Day is on Monday, January 16, 2022.
8. The last day to ask for a leave of absence for the Spring 2023 Term is Tuesday, January 17, 2022. (use eForm in SIS).
9. UVA Classes for spring 2023 start on January 18, 2023. The first day of school in the spring of 2023.
10. Wednesday, February 1, 2023, is the last day to add a class.
11. According to UVA academic calendar, Wednesday, February 1 2023 is the last day to;
    • Select the AU (Audit) Option.
    • Change to “Credit/No Credit” or away from it.
    • Ask for part-time status or fewer courses (the add deadline).
12. Thursday, February 2, 2023, is the last day to drop a class.
13. The last day of school before Spring Break in 2023 is Friday, March 3, 2023.
14. UVA From Saturday, March 4, 2023, to Sunday, March 12, 2023, is spring break.
15. After Spring break, classes start back up on Monday, March 13, 2023.
16. The last day to drop out of a course is Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
17. UVA students can apply to graduate in August 2023 in UVA SIS on April 1, 2023. (tentative).
18. The last day to ask for a change to the exam schedule is Wednesday, April 26, 2023.
19. Classes for the spring of 2023 end on Tuesday, May 2, 2023.
20. Students in their fourth semester have until May 2, 2023, to choose a major.
21. Wednesday, May 3, 2023, Sunday, May 7, 2023, and Wednesday, May 10, 2023, are reading days.
22. From Thursday, May 4, 2023, to Friday, May 12, 2023, exams will be given.
23. The last day to drop out of the Semester is Friday, May 12, 2023. According to the UVA academic calendar for 2022-2023, students should talk to their Association Dean in the College to find out if any grades have been posted.
24. Final grades for the spring of 2023 are due Monday, May 15, 2023, 48 hours after the last exam.
25. Friday, May 19, 2023, and Sunday, May 21, 2023, are the dates for UVA Finals Weekend 2023.
26. Authorized incompletes from the Spring Semester have to be done by Friday, June 9, 2023.
27. The likely last day to apply to graduate in August 2023 is Saturday, July 1.
