UCC Entry Requirements & Cut-off Points
Here are the entry requirements and deadlines for programs of study at the University of Cape Coast-UCC for both local and international students:
WASSCE/SSSCE: Applicants must have credit passes in six (6) subjects and a total score of 36/24 on the WASSCE/SSSCE.
Three of the six subjects should be core subjects, like English Language, Math, Integrated Science, or Social Studies. The other three should be relevant electives.
Cut-off Points for UCC
For getting into the University of Cape Coast-UCC, the entry requirements and cut-off points are:
- WASSCE stands for A1–C6.
- SSSCE stands for A–D.
- Certificate of General Education (GCE) Advanced Level: Applicants must have credit passes in five (5) GCE “O” Level subjects, including English and math, and three (3) passes in the relevant subjects at the Advanced Level.
- General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE): Applicants must have credit passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects, including three (3) core subjects (like English Language and Math) and three (3) relevant elective subjects.
- International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE): Applicants must have credit passes in five (5) GCE “O” Level subjects, including English and math, and three (3) passes in the relevant subjects at the “Advanced Level.”
- International Baccalaureate (IB): Applicants must have at least a grade 4 at the Higher Level in three (3) subjects related to the program of choice (minimum of grade 5 for Health and Allied Sciences). Applicants must also have at least a grade 4 in both English/Literature and Math (SL).
- American High School Exams for Grade 12. The final grade point for applicants should be 3.0.
UCC Fee-Paying Applicants
Applicants to UCC Who Pay Fees Applicants who don’t meet the competitive cut-off points set by the Joint Admissions Committee can pay a fee to get in.
Those who want to be considered can fill out the fee-paying forms, which are available at sales centers or can be downloaded from the university’s admissions portal, and attach them to their printed online application forms. These candidates will have to meet the minimum requirements for getting in. For applicants, copies of the cut-off points for the different programs from last year are available at the sales centers and on the University’s website.
Practical Tests for the B.Ed (Physical Education) Candidates
Candidates for B.Ed. (Physical Education) Those who have taken the SSSCE or WASSCE should know that the date for the practical exams will be given later.
Sending in copies of forms that have been filled out
- Two copies of the online application form filled out and signed, along with two copies of the results slip, should be sent by mail, NOT delivered by hand.
- Copies of the online application forms that have been filled out should be sent to the University of Cape Coast’s Director, Directorate of Academic Affairs (DAA).
- Applicants need to make sure that their application forms are sent out early enough to arrive before the deadline. Forms that arrive after the deadline will not be processed.
- After the application forms have been turned in, no other documents will be accepted. Applicants should keep in mind that they should only send photocopies of certificates or result slips with their completed forms. Before registration, applicants who are accepted will have to show their original certificates or result slips.
Note: You can’t send back the documents that come with the application forms.
Conclusion
If you send in an application form without an Application Reference Number and a copy of each of your WASSCE/SSSCE results in slips or transcripts, it will not be processed. This is true for both Post-Diploma and other applicants.
After the application forms have been sent in, you will NOT be able to change the program.
