UConn Academic Calendar 2022-2023: Important Dates

You can find important dates and deadlines for the semester on the UConn academic calendar. The University of Connecticut uses the semester system, which usually lasts between 14 and 16 weeks.

At the University of Connecticut, everyone who wants to graduate must earn at least 120 credits. Students must take an average of 15 credits per semester to graduate in eight semesters.

UConn academic calendar fall 2022

Here are the important dates, schedules, and deadlines on the UConn academic calendar for fall 2022.

  1. Freshmen at UConn will move in on Friday, August 26, 2022, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  2. Move-in day for all new students, transfers, and continuing students is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, and Sunday, August 28, 2022. Students can only move into their dorms with one car. Bring your photo ID, your UConn ID, and your student ID (PeopleSoft). This information will be used by Residential Life to give out keys and other check-in materials.
  3. Monday, August 29, 2022, is the first day of the fall semester at UConn. The beginning of fall in 2022. Find out more about UConn HuskyCT.
  4. Monday, September 5, 2022, is Labor Day. No classes.
  5. The last day to ask for course credit by exam is Tuesday, September 6, 2022. (Undergraduate students only).
  6. If you drop a class after Monday, September 12, 2022, you will get a “W” on your academic record. This stands for “withdrawal.” It is the last day to add or drop classes without a signature from a teacher (see Adding and Dropping Courses).
  7. UConn’s academic calendar for 2022-2023 says that Monday, September 19, 2022 is the last day for undergraduate students to make up incomplete or absent grades.
  8. From Tuesday, September 20, 2022, to Monday, September 26, 2022, there will be tests for course credit (Undergraduate students only).
  9. The deadline to apply for graduation and turn in a Final Plan of Study for a Fall 2022 degree is Friday, September 23, 2022. This is only for undergraduate, master’s, 6th year, and graduate certificate students.
  10. On the UConn academic calendar, you need the signature of the dean to add classes on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.
  11. On Friday, October 7, 2022, students will need to hear from their teachers about how the semester is going so far.
  12. The last day to drop a class is Monday, November 14, 2022.
  13. Monday, November 14, 2022, is the last day for undergraduate students to add or remove courses from Pass/Fail grading.
  14. From Sunday, November 20, 2022, to Saturday, November 26, 2022, UConn will be on Thanksgiving break.
  15. For a Fall 2022 degree, Master’s and Doctoral degree candidates have until Friday, December 2, 2022, to upload their final thesis and dissertation to Submittable and send related paperwork to Degree Audit (degreeaudit@uconn.edu). It is suggested that students defend their projects at least two weeks before the deadline, so that they have time to make changes. The defence date for a doctoral dissertation must be set two weeks in advance. Plan A: Master’s degree students don’t have to tell anyone about their defence.
  16. Friday, December 9, 2022, is the last day of the fall semester of 2022.
  17. Saturday, December 10, 2022, and Sunday, December 11, 2022, are reading days.
  18. The last exams at UConn start on December 12 and end on December 18, 2022.
  19. Reading Day will be on Thursday, December 15, 2022.
  20. Fall 2022 degrees will be given out on Sunday, December 18, 2022. The UConn academic calendar says that Plan B master’s students must finish their final exams by this date.
  21. The grades for the UConn Fall Semester of 2022 are due on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at 4 p.m.
  22. The approved Plan B master’s Report on the Final Exam form must be sent to degreeaudit@uconn.edu by Friday, December 30, 2022. (Graduate students only).

UConn academic calendar spring 2023

Here are the most important dates, times, and deadlines on the spring 2023 academic calendar for UConn.

  1. Monday, October 24, 2022, is the first day that you can use the Student Administration System to sign up for the Winter 2023 and Spring 2023 semesters.
  2. The first day of the Spring semester at UConn in 2023 will be on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
  3. Monday, January 23, 2023, is the last day to ask for course credit by exam (Undergraduate students only).
  4. Courses dropped after Monday, January 30, 2023, will be marked with a “W,” which stands for withdrawal. Today is the last day you can add or drop classes without getting more signatures.
  5. Monday, February 6, 2023, is the last day for missing or incomplete grades to be made up (Undergraduate students only).
  6. From Tuesday, February 7, 2023, to Monday, February 13, 2023, there will be tests for course credit (Undergraduate students only).
  7. For a Spring 2023 degree, the last day to apply for graduation and turn in a Final Plan of Study is Friday, February 10, 2023. This only applies to undergraduate, master’s, 6th year, and graduate certificate students.
  8. On the UConn academic calendar, you will need the signature of the dean on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, in order to add classes.
  9. On Friday, February 24, 2023, students will need to get progress reports from their teachers.
  10. Wednesday, March 1, 2023, is the last day to apply to be in the 2023 Commencement Book for a Summer 2023 graduation.
  11. From Sunday, March 12, 2023, to Saturday, March 18, 2023, UConn will be on spring break.
  12. On Monday, March 20, 2023, you can use the Student Administration System to sign up for the Fall 2023 semester.
  13. On the UConn academic calendar for 2022-2023, the emergency make-up class date is Saturday, March 25, 2023.
  14. Monday, April 10, 2023, is the last day to drop out of a class.
  15. The last day to add or remove courses from Pass/Fail grading is Monday, April 10, 2023. (Undergraduate students only).
  16. For a Spring 2023 degree, Master’s and Doctoral degree candidates have until Friday, April 21, 2023, to upload their final thesis and dissertation to Submittable and send related paperwork to Degree Audit (degreeaudit@uconn.edu). It is suggested that students defend their projects at least two weeks before the deadline, so that they have time to make changes.   17. On Friday, April 28, 2023, the spring semester will be over.
  18. Saturday, April 29, 2023, and Sunday, April 30, 2023, are reading days.
  19. The final exam for the spring semester of 2023 is from Monday, May 1, to Saturday, May 6, 2023.
  20. The ceremonies for the 2023 UConn Commencement and Graduation will be held from Saturday, May 6, 2023, to Monday, May 8, 2023.
  21. Sunday, May 7, 2023, is when Spring 2023 degrees will be given out. The UConn academic calendar for 2022-2023 says that Plan B master’s students must finish their final exams by this date.
  22. The grades for the Spring Semester of 2023 are due on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 4 p.m.
  23. The approved Plan B master’s Report on the Final Exam must be sent to Degree Audit (degreeaudit@uconn.edu) by May 19, 2023. (Graduate students only).
