Tufts Academic Calendar 2022-2023: Important Dates

The way Tufts University works is by semesters. All first-year students (except REAL students) are expected to take four to five classes each semester, unless they have a serious health condition that can be proven.

At Tufts, you are considered full-time if you take at least 12 Semester-hour units (SHUs) in a semester. After you’ve gone to Tufts full-time for eight semesters, you can either graduate or go to school part-time in your last or next-to-last semester.

Tufts Academic Calendar Fall 2022

1. First-year students and new transfer students will start to arrive on campus for optional Pre-Orientation programs as early as August 25, 2022, and as late as August 27, 2022, depending on the program.
2. On August 31, 2022, orientation and enrollment for new students will start.
3. Wednesday, August 31, 2022, is move-in day for all First Year students who are not taking part in a Pre-Orientation program.
4. On September 5, 2022, it will be Labor Day.
5. Tufts Fall Classes begin September 6 2022.
6. All students can sign up again on September 6, 2022, at 12 a.m.
7. The last day for AS&E students to add classes in Tufts SIS is September 20, 2022 at 11:59 p.m.
8. The date of the Indigenous Peoples’ Day holiday in 2022 is October 10.
9. AS&E students (other than first-year undergraduates) will no longer be able to drop classes without a record of enrollment after 11:59 p.m. on October 11, 2022.
10. The last day for AS&E students to make up missing grades from Spring 2022 is October 18, 2022.
11. On November 11, 2022, Veterans Day will be a holiday.
12. Undergraduate AS&E students have until 11:59 p.m. on November 15, 2022 to WITHDRAW from courses. Undergraduate First-Year Students can drop classes without a record of enrollment until this date. After this date, everyone else gets a W if they drop out after the 5-week deadline.
13. Undergraduates will no longer be able to choose the PASS/FAIL option after November 15, 2022, at 11:59 p.m.
14. From November 23 to November 25, 2022, is Thanksgiving break.
15. The last day of school is December 12, 2022.
16. Graduate AS&E students have until December 12, 2022 to WITHDRAW from courses and get a W grade.
17. From December 13, 2022, to December 14, 2022, reading period is.
18. Final exams will be given from December 15 to 22, 2022.
19. Online grades for the fall term are due by 9 a.m. on January 4, 2023.
20. Students in AS&E have until March 1, 2023 to make up missing grades from Fall 2022.

Spring 2023 on the academic calendar for Tufts

1. Holiday for Martin Luther King Day The date is January 16, 2023.
2. Spring classes at Tufts start on January 18, 2023.

4. The holiday for Presidents’ Day is on February 20, 2023.
5. AS&E students will no longer be able to drop classes without a record of enrollment after February 22, 2023.
6. Spring break at Tufts will be from March 18 to March 26, 2023.
7. On March 27, 2023, school starts back up again after Spring break.
8. Undergraduate AS&E students have until April 5, 2023 to WITHDRAW from courses and get a W grade.
9. Undergraduates will no longer be able to choose PASS/FAIL after April 5, 2023.
10. April 5, 2023, is Make-Up Day. The academic calendar at Tufts says that there will be no classes on this day.
11. On April 17, 2023, Patriots’ Day will be a holiday.
12. Lessons are over on May 1, 2023.
13. Graduate AS&E students have until May 1, 2023, to WITHDRAW from courses and get a W grade.
14. The time for reading is from May 2 to May 4, 2023.
15. Review Boards will start on May 4, 2023, and end on May 12, 2023.
16. The last exams will be given from May 5 to May 12 of 2023.
17. Spring Term Grades are due online by 9 a.m. on May 15, 2023, which is 48 hours after the end of the term.
18. Senior Week at Tufts starts on May 15, 2023, and ends on May 19, 2023.
19. The rest of the grades are due online by 9 a.m. on May 19, 2023.
20. The start date is May 21, 2023.
21. On May 29, 2023, it will be Memorial Day.
