SDSU Blackboard: is one of the school’s two learning management systems. After Spring 2021, it will no longer be used at all.
During the summer of 2021, Canvas LMS was the only learning management system at SDSU.
The Blackboard system keeps track of your course enrollments for you. The only people who can see your courses are you and your students.

FAQS
If you are still having trouble with SDSU Blackboard or if your problem with San Diego State University LMS was not mentioned above, you can ask your instructor for help or call the Library Computing Hub.
When I log into Blackboard, I do not see some of my classes. What can I do?
After your enrollment is official, it takes 24 hours for the Blackboard database to be updated. Not all teachers use Blackboard, which is another reason why you might not see all of your classes.
This could be why some of your classes are listed on SDSU Blackboard but not all of them. If you don’t see a class, the best thing to do is to ask your teacher or professor if they plan to use Blackboard for the class.
If they say yes, ask them to let students sign up for their course when they’re ready.
I cannot log into Blackboard at all. What can I do?
Make sure you’ve paid your fees and gotten your paperwork done. Also, if you’ve never taken classes at SDSU before, go to the SDSU WebPortal and change your PIN.
To get into Blackboard, you need your Red ID and SDSU WebPortal PIN (Note-This does not apply to students taking non-credit courses through Extended University).
I have reset my SDSU Webportal PIN and can still not access Blackboard. What can I do?
It takes between 12 and 24 hours for Blackboard to get your new PIN. Wait this amount of time, and then try again.
I am an Open University or Extended Studies student. What do I need to do to access Blackboard?
Students in Extended Studies or Open University (Credit Courses): Students in Extended Studies must first register at the College of Extended Studies and pay course fees. After you’ve signed up and paid your fees, go to the SDSU WebPortal and set up your account. Wait 12 to 24 hours, and then go to Blackboard and sign in.
If you still have trouble after doing this task, call the College of Extended Studies Registration Office at 619-594-5152 or send an email to ces.registrar@sdsu.edu.
Students in Non-Credit Courses (Extended Studies): Talk to your teacher and ask if you can use Blackboard.
I am not getting emails from my instructor or professor – What can I do?
In the SDSU WebPortal, you can enter or change your email address. In 4 to 6 hours, this new email address will be automatically sent to BB.
The SDSU WebPortal is where students need to set up their email addresses. The email address for each faculty member must be set in SDSU Blackboard.
My instructor or professor is not receiving my email – What can I do?
Sometimes, teachers don’t set up their email address in Blackboard. Check to see if other people in your class can get your email, and then ask your teacher or professor if they have set up their email in Blackboard. If they say no, tell them that if they need help doing this, they can call the Blackboard Faculty Helpline.
How do I check my grades?
You can check your grades in Blackboard in two ways. Click on the Student Tools section and then on the Check Grade icon from within a course. If you see a blue link on an assignment score, it means you can see more information about how you did on a quiz (question by question). On the MY SDSU page, you can also check your grades (the first page you see after you log in). This page’s Tool Box is in the top left corner. It has a number of links. My Grades is one of these.
