If you’re a student at North Carolina State University, you should check the NCSU Academic Calendar 2022-2023 often so you know when to register, when to add or drop classes, and when other important dates and deadlines are.

NCSU Academic Calendar Fall 2022

Here are some important dates and deadlines from the Fall 2022 academic calendar at NC State.

The only way to move into NCSU for the fall of 2022 is to make an appointment between August 18 and August 21, 2022. Appointments are available every day from August 18 to 20 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on August 21 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. By going to MyPack Portal, you can sign up for a time to check in.
On Monday, August 22, 2022, fall classes at NCSU will start.
The last day to add a course without permission is Friday, August 26, 2022.
Friday, September 2, 2022, is the official date for the census.
Friday, September 5, 2022, is Labor Day.
The last day to drop or change an 8-Week Session-First Session class is September 15, 2022.
From Monday, October 10, 2022, to Tuesday, October 11, 2022, it’s fall break.
The last day of class for 8-Week Session-First Session is Thursday, October 13, 2022.
8-Week Session-Second Session will start on Friday, October 14, 2022.
The last day to add a course is Friday, October 14, 2022. (8-week 2 classes only).
Monday, October 17, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. is the deadline for 8-Week Session-First Session grades.
On the NCSU academic calendar, the last day to drop or change something for the regular session is Wednesday, October 19, 2022.
The last day to drop a course without getting a W grade is Wednesday, October 19, 2022. (8-week 2 classes only).
For the 8-Week-second session, the deadline to drop or change a class is Monday, November 7, 2022.
From Wednesday, November 23, 2022, to Friday, November 25, 2022, is Thanksgiving.
The last week of the semester is from Tuesday, November 29, 2022, to Monday, December 5, 2022.
Monday, December 5, 2022, is the last day of fall 2022 classes.
The last exams for the Fall 2022 semester will be held from Thursday, December 8, 2022, to Wednesday, December 14, 2022.
Fall grades are due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022.
On Saturday, December 17, 2022, the Fall 2022 Commencement Exercises will take place.

On Monday, January 9, 2023, spring classes at NCSU will begin. This is for both the regular session and the First 8-Week Session.
The last day to add a course without permission is Friday, January 13, 2023.

Monday, January 23, 2023, is the official date for the census.
On February 6, 2023, it is Deadline to drop or make changes for the first 8-week session.
Tuesday, February 28, 2023, is the last day of class for the 8-Week Session-First Session.
Classes for the 8-Week Session-Second Session start on March 1, 2023. Also, it’s the last day to add a class (8-week 2 classes only).
Grades for the 8-Week Session-First Session are due by 11:59 p.m. on March 2, 2023.
For regular session, the deadline to drop or change something is Monday, March 6, 2023. It’s also the last day you can drop a class without getting a W grade (8-week 2 classes only).
From Monday, March 13, 2023, to Friday, March 17, 2023, NCSU will be on Spring Break.
The last day to drop or change an 8-Week-Second-Session class is Thursday, April 3, 2023.
From Tuesday, April 18, 2023, to Monday, April 24, 2023, the last week of the Spring 2023 semester will be over.
On the NCSU academic calendar, Spring 2023 classes end on Monday, April 24, 2023.
Tuesday, April 25, and Wednesday, April 26, 2023, are reading days.
The final exams for the spring semester of 2023 at NCSU start on Thursday, April 27, 2023, and end on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.
The grades for spring 2023 are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023.
The Spring Commencement will be held on May 6, 2023.

Session for Maymester, 3 Weeks, 2022

At NC State University, the Maymester is a 3-Week Session. It starts on May 18, 2022, and ends on June 8, 2022. Here are some more important dates and deadlines on the academic calendar for NCSU.

The last day to add a course without permission is Thursday, May 19, 2022.

Summer 2022 at NCSU starts on May 18 and ends on August 2, 2022.

2022 Summer Session

Both the 10-Week Session and the 5-Week Session of NCSU Summer Session I 2022 begin on May 18, 2022. Here are some more important dates and deadlines on the academic calendar for NCSU.

Wednesday, May 18, 2022, is the first day of Summer Session 1 classes.
Thursday, May 19, 2022, is the last day you can add a course without permission.
Friday, May 20, 2022, is the official date for the census.
Monday, May 30, 2022, is Memorial Day (NC State University Holiday; No classes).
The Juneteenth holiday is on June 20, 2022. (No classes).
The deadline to drop or make changes is Wednesday, June 22, 2022. It is also the last day of classes for the 5-Week Session.
Thursday, June 23, and Friday, June 24, 2022, are the last days of the 5-Week Session. There are no classes for 10-Week courses during this time.
Grades for the 5-Week Session are due by 5 p.m. on Monday, June 27, 2022.
Independence Day is on July 4, 2022. (NS State University holiday; No classes).
On Friday, July 29, 2022, the 10-week session will be over.
The last exams for the 10-Week Session will be given on Monday, August 1, and Tuesday, August 2, 2022.
Grades for the 10-Week Session are due by 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022.

Both 5-Week Sessions of NCSU Summer Session II 2022 begin on Monday, June 27, 2022. Here are some more important dates and deadlines on the academic calendar for NCSU.

On Monday, June 27, 2022, Summer Session 2 classes will start.
The last day to add a course without permission is Tuesday, June 28, 2022.
Wednesday, June 29, 2022, is the official date for the census.
The deadline to drop or change something is July 13, 2022.
The last day of school is Friday, July 29, 2022.
Final exams for Summer Session 2 will be held from Monday, August 1, 2022, to Tuesday, August 2, 2022.
The grades for Summer Session 2 are due by 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022.

Last day to add something without permission

Last day to add a class without the instructor’s permission. At 11:59 p.m., the MyPack Portal stops taking new items. (If you want to add a class after this date, talk to the teacher.)

Date of Census

Census Date/Official Enrollment Date: The last day to add a class with the instructor’s permission. Last day to get a refund on tuition if you drop a class or switch from credit to audit. The last day that students in their first year of college can drop below 12 hours. Today is the last day that ANY student can drop a class without getting a W grade.

Please note that the last day for undergraduate students in the second 8-week session of the semester to drop below 12 hours is NOT the same as the Census Date. The Census Date and the last day to drop a class without getting a W grade are NOT the same for all students in the second 8-week session of the semester. Please look at the school’s schedule.

Date to drop/change

After this date, a Schedule Revision form will be needed to process any changes to a schedule. The last day for ALL levels to switch to “credit only.”

Note: Students taking mini-courses should look at the Eight-Week Calendar to find out when they can drop them.

Last Week of Semester

During the last week of classes, you can take lab tests, turn in reports on semester projects, and give presentations. Only if it’s written in the syllabus can papers and homework be due during the last week of class.

But so that students can study for their final exams, teachers can’t give any more tests, quizzes, or papers during the last week of classes.

Unless the assignment is part of the final exam, it shouldn’t have a due date during the time of the final exam. Any changes to this rule need to be approved in advance by the head of the department and the dean of the college in question. If a student thinks that an assignment doesn’t follow this rule, they should talk to the right teacher or department head.

Date for Term Withdrawal

The last day to ask to drop out of school for the term. Any requests made after this date are considered retroactive and must meet the same conditions as a term withdrawal.
