All University of New Mexico students, employees, and faculty have access to LoboMail, a feature-rich email and calendaring system built on Microsoft Exchange Online in Office 365.
When a user first joins UNM as a student, employee, or faculty member, they are all given an email account.
How to log into LoboMail
- A supported browser should be used to access lobomail.unm.edu (or click the link).
- Enter your UNM email address (<netid>@unm.edu, where <netid> is your UNM NetID; (ex: lobolucy@unm.edu) and click “Next”.
- Enter your NetID password
- Click “Sign in“.
- Set up your MFA device if required, or finish the MFA login process using a device you’ve already configured.
- Use the “Stay signed in” or “Don’t ask again for…” choices if you are using a trusted device to lessen the frequency of future MFA requirements.
Click the avatar icon in the top right corner of your LoboMail screen to log out. You can click sign out at the bottom of the drop-down menu that will appear after doing this. (This leaves some information in your browser’s cache, so LoboMail is not completely closed to you.)
Clear the cache in your browser once you’ve finished (this includes browsing history, passwords, cookies, etc.). After doing this, you can entirely log out of LoboMail by closing your browser. Do the same with the myUNM login portal, don’t forget.
LoboMail will log you out automatically if you log out and do not try to log back in within 30 minutes.
Send a Help.UNM ticket or call UNM Information Technologies Customer Support Services (IT CSS) at (505) 277-5757 for more help.
Why do I keep getting “Incorrect user ID or password” or “Account Locked” warnings when I try to log into computers or LoboMail?
I occasionally receive error messages that state that my user name or password are wrong or that my account is locked out (even though my password is good). Is there anything I can do to stop this, and what is the cause?
If your account is “frozen,” you could occasionally get alerts about wrong passwords even though you entered the right username and password. For certain services, you might still be able to log in, but for others, you might get messages like:
- incorrect password or user ID Try again after entering the proper user ID and password.
- The referred-to account may not be signed on at this time because it is temporarily locked out.
DO NOT RESET YOUR PASSWORD as this can make the problem worse if you are convinced that you are using the right password but are still getting these warnings. Your account is not instantly unlocked when you change your password, therefore your new password won’t work either.
Password resets should only be used as a last resort if you experience account lockout symptoms.
By getting in touch with your department’s IT personnel or by dialling 505-277-5757, you can request that your AD account be manually unlocked (if you are a managed workstation customer).
