JMU Academic Calendar Fall Semester 2022

Here are some other important dates on the Fall 2022 academic calendar for JMU.

1. On Monday, April 11, 2022, people can start signing up for the fall semester of 2022.
2. The day for freshmen to move into JMU in 2022 is Friday, August 19, at 12:00 AM, and Saturday, August 20, at 12:00 AM.
3. On Sunday, August 21, 2022, between 8 a.m. and noon, JMU transfer students can move in.
4. Upperclass JMU students can move in on Sunday, August 21, 2022, through Tuesday, August 23, 2022. On Monday and Tuesday, there won’t be as much time to move in at JMU.
5. On Wednesday, August 24, 2022, fall classes at JMU will start.
6. Tuesday, September 13, 2022, is the last day to drop out of college and get your tuition and other fees back.
7. Family Weekend 2022 will be from September 30 to October 2, 2022.
8. The last day of First Block classes is Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
9. Classes for the second block start on Thursday, October 13, 2022. Today is the last day to apply for a Master’s, Ed.S., or Doctoral degree if you want to graduate in May or August 2023.
10. On Tuesday, October 18, 2022, midterm grades are due in the Office of the Registrar. The JMU academic calendar says that grades for First Block courses are due in the Office of the Registrar on the same day.
11. From Wednesday, October 12, 2022, to Friday, October 14, 2022, JMU will be on fall break.
12. From Friday, October 21, 2022, to Sunday, October 23, 2022, Homecoming 2022 will take place.
13. The Thanksgiving holiday starts on November 19, 2022, a Wednesday.
14. On Monday, November 28, 2022, classes will start up again.
15. The last day of school is Friday, December 9, 2022.
16. From Saturday, December 10, 2022, to Friday, December 16, 2022, the last exams will be given.
17. December graduates have until Friday, December 16, 2022, to finish their course work.
18. The December Commencement Ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022.
19. Regular Semester and Second Block course grades are due by 3 p.m. on Monday, December 19, 2022, in the Office of the Registrar.

JMU Winter Session 2023

Here are some other important dates on the JMU academic calendar for the winter session of 2023. Students and teachers can choose to attend this session.

1. On Monday, January 2, 2023, classes for both Winter session 1 (one week) and Winter session 2 (two weeks) start as planned.
2. The last exams for Winter Session 1 will be on Friday, January 6, 2023.
3. Classes for the third week of winter session 3 (one week) start as planned on Monday, January 9, 2023.
4. The grades for Winter Session 1 are due on January 10, 2023.
5. The last exams for Winter Sessions 2 and 3 will be on Friday, January 13, 2023.
6. The grades for the second and third winter sessions are due on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.

JMU academic calendar Spring Semester 2023

Here are some other important dates on the JMU academic calendar for the Spring term of 2023.

1. Monday, November 7, 2022, is the first day to sign up for the spring semester of 2023.
2. Monday, January 16, 2023 is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
3. Spring classes at JMU will begin on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
4. Tuesday, February 7, 2023, is the last day to drop out of college and get a tuition refund and cancellation of fees. Student evaluations and help from teachers (no classes 8 a.m.- 4 p.m.) Evening classes (those that start after 4 p.m.) meet as planned.
5. Classes for the First Block end on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.
6. On March 10, 2023, midterm grades are due in the Office of the Registrar.
7. JMU From Monday, March 13, 2023, to Friday, March 17, 2023, is spring break.
8. On Monday, March 20, 2022, classes will start up again.
9. Classes for the second block start on Monday, March 20, 2023.
10. On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, grades for courses in the First Block are due in the Office of the Registrar.
11. If you want to graduate in December 2023, the last day to send in an application for a Master’s, Ed.S., or Doctoral degree is Wednesday, April 12, 2023. Students who want to graduate from The Graduate School in May 2023 need to turn in complete assessment results and scholarly documents.
12. The Spring semester of 2023 will end on Thursday, May 4, 2023.
13. From Friday, May 5, 2023, to Thursday, May 11, 2023, the last exams will be given.
14. May graduates have until Thursday, May 11, 2023, to finish their course work.
15. From Thursday, May 11, 2023, to Saturday, May 13, 2023, there will be Commencement Ceremonies.
16. Regular Semester and Second Block course grades are due Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 3 p.m. in the Office of the Registrar.

Here are some other important dates on the JMU academic calendar for the Summer term of 2022.

1. On Monday, March 28, 2022, early registration for the summer session of 2022 will begin.
2. Monday, May 16, 2022, is the first day of a one-week summer session.
3. On Friday, May 20, 2022, the last test for the one-week-one session will be given.
4. The first day of twelve-week, ten-week, eight-week, six-week(one), four-week(one), and two-week(one) sessions is Monday, May 23, 2022.
5. Monday, May 30 is Memorial Day Holiday.
6. The first day of the two-week session is Monday, June 6, 2022.
7. Friday, June 17, 2022, is the last day of the four-week (one) and two-week (two) sessions.
8. It will happen on Monday, June 20, 2022.
9. The first day of the eight-week(two) and four-week(two) session is Tuesday, June 21, 2022.
10. The last test for the six-week session will be given on Friday, July 1, 2022.
11. On Monday, July 4, 2022, there are no classes.

13. Wednesday, July 13, 2022, candidates for graduation in August 2022 must turn in their results from the comprehensive assessment and their scholarly documents.
14. Friday, July 15, 2022, is the last day of class for eight-week(one) and four-week(two).
15. Friday, July 29, 2022, is the last day of the ten-week session.
16. Summer graduates have until Friday, August 12, 2022, to finish their course work.
17. On Friday, August 12, 2022, the last test for the six-week (two), eight-week (two), and twelve-week sessions will be given.
18. CLN session starts on Monday, August 15, 202.
19. The CLN summer session and final exam will end on Tuesday, August 23, 2022.
