The National Fellowship from Jefferson Scholars Foundation offers the following advantages to its recipients:

Eligibility Criteria for Jefferson Scholars Foundation National Fellowship

For consideration for a National Fellowship from the Jefferson Scholars Foundation, candidates must fulfil the requirements listed below:

Eligible Countries: All World Countries.
A Ph.D. candidate who anticipates finishing their dissertation by the end of the fellowship year is required to apply. This is not a fellowship for post-doctoral work. Applicants must not be US citizens.
Two conferences, one in the fall and one in the spring, are necessary for each Fellow to attend. The conferences offer a venue for disseminating research and discoveries to the academic community at the University of Virginia and the Jefferson Scholars Foundation. Particularly at the spring conference, there is a chance to get input from mentors who are also present. Both conferences’ expenses are covered by the Jefferson Scholars Foundation.
With the exception of the Jefferson Scholars/Hagley Library Dissertation Fellowship, all Fellows are encouraged but not obliged to reside at the Jefferson Scholars Foundation (which requires residence at the Hagley Library during the academic year). All Fellows, with the exception of the Jefferson Scholars/Hagley Library Fellow, will be provided with an additional stipend of $1,500 to cover their travel and housing expenses for the spring and fall conferences.
No matter where they live, all Fellows are expected to engage with and contribute to the Jefferson Scholars Foundation’s interdisciplinary community.
