BU Academic Calendar 2022-2023: Important Dates

The BU Academic Calendar is a list of all the events that happen during the school year, such as final exams, breaks, and the end of the semester. The system at Boston University is based on semesters.

Here are important dates and deadlines for the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters at Boston University.

BU academic calendar fall 2022

Here are the important dates and deadlines on the BU academic calendar for the fall of 2022.

1. The official date that Summer Graduates get their degrees is August 25 of each year.
2. BU The dates for fall move-in day in 2022 are from Wednesday, August 31, 2022, to Monday, September 5, 2022. Starting at noon on Thursday, July 7, 2022, students must use the My Housing Portal to choose a date and time to move into campus housing. Each day of moving-in has two different times for appointments: Group A can move in between 8 am and 12 pm, and Group B can move in between 1 pm and 5 pm.
3. On September 5, 2022, it will be Labor Day.
4. BU On September 6, 2022, fall classes will begin. First Seven-Week Session begins.
5. The last day to sign up for standard courses for continuing, new, and transfer students is September 12, 2022. (non-MET only).
6. September 19, 2022, is the last day to add Standard Courses.
7. The official last day for MET students to sign up is September 19, 2022.
8. Undergraduate students will no longer be able to change standard courses from credit to audit status after September 19, 2022.
9. On October 10, 2022, it will be Indigenous People’s Day.
10. The last day to drop a standard course without getting a “W” grade is October 11, 2022.
11. On October 11, 2022, graduate students will no longer be able to change standard courses from credit to audit status.
12. On October 24, 2022, the First Seven-Week Session will be over.
13. On October 25, 2022, the second seven-week session starts.
14. The last day to drop a standard course with a “W” grade is November 14, 2022.
15. On November 14, 2022, undergraduates will no longer be able to mark a course as pass/fail.
16. BU From November 23 to November 27, 2022, is Thanksgiving break.
17. On November 28, 2022, classes will start again.
18. The last day to officially take a leave of absence or drop out of school is November 29, 2022.
19. The second seven-week session ends on December 12, 2022, the last day of class.
20. From December 13, 2022, to December 14, 2022, is the study period.
21. From December 15 to December 21, 2022, students will take their final exams.
22. The class of 2022 will graduate on January 13, 2023.

BU academic calendar spring 2023

Here are the important dates and due dates on the BU academic calendar for spring 2023.

1. On January 16, 2023, there is a holiday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
2. BU Classes for spring 2023 start on January 19, 2023. First Seven-Week Session Begins.
3. On February 20, 2023, Presidents’ Day will be a holiday.
4. The first session of seven weeks ends on March 3, 2023.
5. BU From March 4 to March 12, 2023, is spring break.
6. On March 13, 2023, school will start again. Start of the second seven-week session.
7. On April 17, 2023, Patriots’ Day will be a holiday.
8. On the standard BU calendar, classes end on May 3, 2023, and the second seven-week session is over.
9. The study period is May 4–7, 2023.
10. Final exams will take place from May 8 to May 12 of 2023.
11. BU The graduation weekend is May 18–21, 2023.
