The university’s official email system is Texas State Email, also referred to as Bobcat Mail. BobcatMail works with many other Microsoft 365 programmes as a component of Microsoft 365. TXST Email is accessible whenever and wherever you need it via mobile devices.
Your email address at Texas State is in the following format: yourNetID@txstate.edu (for example, zzz99@txstate.edu).
How to log into Bobcat Mail in Microsoft 365
In Microsoft 365, you may access Bobcat mail by
- Go to outlook.office365.com.
- Your Texas State email address should be entered, such as zzz99@txstate.edu.

How to Activate your Texas State NetID
Each permitted student at Texas State University is given a NetID, or computer account. Access to university information resources like Bobcat Mail is made possible through this. Your NetID and passphrase are only allowed to be used by you.
Your passphrase needs to be kept private and safe. Your NetID and passphrase may not be used for commercial reasons, and you are responsible for any activities made with them.
If a Texas State NetID is not utilised (no login activity) for 180 days, it may be deactivated.
Your Texas State Email must be activated (Bobcat Mail),
- Open Online Toolkit.
- Click Activate your NetID.
- Select an Identifier Type (NetID / Texas State ID or SSN / ITIN).
- EXAMPLE: NetID (e.g., zzz99), Texas State ID (e.g., A12345678), SSN, or ITIN.
- Enter your identifier and date of birth in the appropriate boxes.
- Enter the code that is seen in the screen image.
- Choose Next.
- Fill in the appropriate fields with your last name, social security number, and email address.
- Click Validate.
- NOTE: The system will send a one-time-use link to your personal email address.
- CAUTION: Depending on your personal email service, it could take a while for this email to get in your inbox. Check your junk or spam folder if you don’t see it after 15 minutes.
- After reading the email, click the attached link. A new tab or window in the web browser opens.
- Enter your birthdate on the One-Time-Use Link Validation screen.
- Click Validate.
- Your NetID will be visible on the screen. For later usage, note it down and keep it close to hand.
- Select “I agree to comply with the information security, appropriate use, and other policies of Texas State University” from the drop-down menu.
- Enter and re-enter a password for your NetID.
- Think about making a passphrase with at least 15 characters. Passphrase best practises are shown.
- Click “Submit.”
- Congratulations! You’ve successfully set up a NetID password and activated your NetID.
- Keep your NetID and password close at hand. You’ll use it to sign in to several online services offered by Texas State.
How to reset your Texas State NetID password using forgot password
- Open Online Toolkit.
- Click Forgot Password?
- Select an Identifier Type (NetID/TxStateID or SSN/ITIN).

- Your new NetID password must be typed in twice.
- NOTE: Think about making a passphrase that is at least 15 characters long.
- Click “Submit.”
- Congratulations! Your attempt to change your NetID password was successful.
Why does Texas State want me to authenticate my Personal Email Address to Reset NetID Password?
Before using the Forgot Password procedure, a personal email account that is not affiliated with Texas State must be authenticated. This email address is required to reset NetID passwords.
When you reset your password and utilise Texas State’s online services, this IT security feature enables Texas State to verify that you are who you say you are.
How to change your NetID password and validate a new personal email address
- Open Online Toolkit.
- Enter your NetID and password. Click Login.
- NOTE: If you are enrolled in Duo, select your preferred authentication method to continue to the Online Toolkit.
- Click Change Password.
- Select the No radio button.
- NOTE: Answering no means that you will be required to validate your personal email address.
- Enter a new personal email, then re-enter the same personal email.
- Click Send Confirmation Email.
- NOTE: The system will send a one-time-use link to your personal email address.
- CAUTION: Depending on your personal email service, it could take a while for this email to get in your inbox. Check your junk or spam folder if you don’t see it after 15 minutes.
- After reading the email, click the attached link. A new tab or window in the web browser opens.
- Enter your birthdate on the One-Time-Use Link Validation screen. To validate, click.

- Enter your Old Password.
- Enter and re-enter your New Password.
- NOTE: If possible, make your passphrase at least 15 characters long.

- Congratulations! Both updating your NetID password and confirming your personal email address were successful.
Passwords for NetIDs expire after 365 days. You don’t need to add a reminder to your calendar because ITAC will send you numerous emails to help you remember to complete it before the deadline. Wherever you use your password frequently, update it. Consider all the logins you have after changing your password, such as on your TXST PC or mobile device (email and Wi-Fi). Update that new password everywhere, please.
How to set up your TXST Email on an Android
Bobcat Mail can be added to your Android device by
- Open your Email app.
- Enter your Texas State email address (e.g., zzz99@txstate.edu) and password.
- Tap Manual setup.
- Tap Exchange.
- Re-enter your Texas State email address and password. Enter TXSTATE\your NetID (e.g., TXSTATE\zzz99) for Domain\username and outlook.office365.com for Exchange server.
- NOTE: Enter TXSTATE in the domain box and your NetID in the username box if the domain and username fields are divided into two separate boxes.
- Check the Use secure connection (SSL) check box. Click Next.
- Choose the data you want to synchronise. From the drop-down menus for email sync, choose Automatic or Push.
- NOTE: In order for your Texas State email to function on Android, Automatic or Push must be chosen.
- When you’re done, tap Next.
- Click Done after naming the email address.
- TIP: If you have many email accounts on your Android device, give each one a name that is simple to remember.
- Congratulations! Your Android has been successfully configured with your Texas State email.
- TIP: If your mailbox does not connect. Under Domain\username, try these options:

How to add your TXST Email in Apple Mail on your Mac
To install Bobcat Mail on a Mac, follow the procedures listed below. The steps listed here are only compatible with macOS 14 (Mojave) or later.
- Activate Apple Mail.
- Click Continue after selecting Exchange.
- Your Texas State email address, NetID password, and a name for your account are required next.
- Press Sign In.
- You’ll be asked to finish the Duo multi-factor authentication process.
- After selecting the applications you want to link to your account, click Done.
- Congratulations! Your Texas State email has been successfully configured in Apple Mail for Mac.
How to access a shared calendar in Outlook for windows
NOTE: You must have that person’s permission in order to see their calendar.
- Open Outlook.
- Simply select the Calendar tab.
- Click Open Calendar, then click Open Shared Calendar.
- Type the person’s name or email address or the shared mailbox calendar link that you want to access.
- TIP: Click Name to search for a person or room in the address book.
- Select OK.
- Your personal calendar will be displayed next to the shared calendar.
